Heart Disease
Heart disease is a chronic degenerative condition which manifests as narrowing and occlusion of the coronary arteries. It is often associated with obesity , diabetes and high blood pressure. Other risk factors for heart disease are cigarette smoking.
The combination of High triglycerides, low HDL cholesterol, and high insulin levels, as well as obesity, high blood pressure and diabetes, is also known as metabolic syndrome or syndrome X.
Elevated homocysteine and c-reactive protein levels are also associated with cardiovascular disease. Excessive amounts of oxidative stress can contribute to elevated cholesterol levels and heart disease.
