Diabetes

Diabetes is a chronic degenerative disorder which has its roots in poor blood sugar regulation. Diabetics are prone to high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, kidney problems, obesity, eye problems, and premature aging.

There are two types of diabetes:

Type I – Juvenile onset diabetes, insulin dependent diabetes. These patients make no insulin. The pancreas in these patients has been attacked by an auto-immune dysfunction. They require injected insulin to maintain glucose control.

Type II- Adult onset diabetes, non-insulin dependent diabetes. These patients make insulin but have trouble using it. This is called insulin resistance. The cause of insulin resistance is a high carbohydrate diet, specifically high fructose corn syrup. Insulin resistance can be worsened by hormonal imbalances and mineral imbalances which can lead to metabolic imbalances.

All diabetics must be very careful with their diets as blood sugar control is paramount.
