Restless Leg Syndrome is the name given to a chronic functional problem where the patient suffers from involuntary movements of the lower extremities. They may also experience aching legs and muscle spasms. It may be associated with other functional problems like fatigue, irritable bowl syndrome, and hormonal imbalances.

Restless Leg Syndrome is often caused by abnormalities in the acid-base balance in the tissues of the muscle and in the blood. Some of the contributing causes may be sub clinical hypothyroidism, low blood pressure, iron deficiency dietary imbalances, hormonal imbalances, metabolic imbalances and environmental exposure to the interiors of water-damaged buildings containing mold and other inflammation causing substances.

Symptomatic treatment may temporarily improve symptoms; however, the underlying cause of the problem should not be ignored. Only by finding and treating the root cause of the problem will lead to a successful outcome.

There are many myths being perpetuated in the natural healing circles that “everyone is too acidic, we all need to be more alkaline”. This is not true.  Consequently, many people are taking supplements and/or following diets in an attempt to make them more alkaline. Unfortunately, many people suffering from Restless Leg Syndrome are already too systemically alkaline or have excess tissue alkalinity.
